Welcome BackSpring! Time to Defrost My Book Promotion
Okay, I'm in Minnesota so there's still some leftover chill in the air, and the chance of snow rearing it's head sometime in April is still pretty likely, but officially it is spring and it is enough to give me hope. I kicked off a mail book review tour of No Sensible People on Gather.com and received my 1st review both on Amazon.com and Gather.com, and the book is off to the next person. Currently traveling from South Carolina to Florida. I hope to have about six stops on this tour- all part of my next phase in book promotion. Marketing is harder in the winter. It's cold and icy and dark. It's hard to get around, and even harder to stay motivated. My budget is still tight, but I'm going to carry a small inventory of the publisher's edition of No Sensible People. This is the same book at the one on Amazon.com, except the dimensions are slightly smaller, the paper is white instead of cream and is a slightly lower quality. This edition is priced at $9.95 on Lulu plus about $6 in shipping for one copy. If I order several copies and mail individual copies to buyers myself I can offer this for $12 in the US-- instead of $16. The official version (with ISBN) is still available on Amazon for $13.95, and is eligible for Free Super Saver Shipping. Email me with "No Sensible People" in the subject line if you're interested. I also want to get more involved in the writing community offline by being more active at The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, finding an offline writing group and possibly a new book club. I've been in a one for a few years, but it might be time to find some new people. If I can, I want to hold an informal reading with one or two other writers from my area sometime this summer. Of course, I still want to keep up with my blog and my web writing too, but springtime is the perfect time to step up the offline stuff as well, and the day job, and the stuff with the kids. Anyone else interested in signing the petition for a 28 hour day? Oh well busy is better than bored right? Back to writing! Gretchen Lee Bourquin's Blog is syndicated weekly on Gather.com, Wordpress, Associated Content, and her website. Her novel, No Sensible People, is available in paperback on Amazon.com or in print and download from Lulu.com. For further updates, please consider following her on Twitter. 2009-03-21 19:41:58 GMT
